The Stolen Princess The Devil Riders Anne Gracie 9780425218983 Books
The hero is, in the very first chapter, depicted as a harsh man who likes to play "Russian roulette" with his life . Like riding his stallion along high cliffs during severe storms, even at night. Yet, after he encounters the heroine, he's not like that at all! The heroine is a brat! "No one can tell me what to do" while stamping her dainty little foot! She does some amazingly STUPID acts that make her protection even more difficult. And the H is constantly hard and grabbing her. He has leeches all over him from getting the crap beat out of him and they still get all hot and bothered (and I don't mean the leeches)! Just couldn't take the make-believe country she was princess of seriously...Zandaria? Pages of her reminiscing about her dead husband, Rupert, and how he treated her and his son. Rupert did this, Rupert said that, Rupert looked like this, Rupert would have done this, etc. Couldn't finish, it's that awful.Tags : The Stolen Princess (The Devil Riders) [Anne Gracie] on Amazon.com. *FREE* shipping on qualifying offers. The Stolen Princess The Devil Riders Anne Gracie 9780425218983 Books Reviews
I happen to like to read every once in a while and I must say it has been an enjoyable read. So much so that I have ordered quite a few more books and have read them all except for the last order that I just ordered.
I have read everything this author has written so far. I only wish she could write and get published faster!
Once I read this first book in the Devil Riders series, I immediately ordered the second. Eventually, I ordered, read and enjoyed all five books in the series. I highly recommend the books. Anne Gracie does a wonderful job.
I do not like romance novels. I only read this because it was suggested by a library newsletter. I was surprised when I enjoyed this book. It has the expected vividly described love scenes, but what I did not expect was the great use of supporting characters. They carried the book and made it a joy to read. I also bought the other two books in the series and was not disappointed. Please try it.
This was the first novel of Anne Gracie's that I read, and I enjoyed it immensely. I noticed in some of the other reviews that people were bothered by the made-up name of the country the princess hailed from. Being as this is a romance novel, I'm ok with a bit of fantasy! More importantly, I really like Ms. Gracie's characters. The princess was really likable, especially in the way she care for her son. She wasn't a feather-brained female by any stretch. And Gabriel (a romance novel name if there ever was one) was charming, sweet and very considerate. While the book contained enough love scenes to take it beyond "sweet" the story was more about the relationship than the act - very refreshing.
The characters in this book are great! I've actually read other books in the series and Gabe is by far my favorite hero. His charm and sense of humor put him at the top of the list of romantic lead men. Then you have Nicky. Most stories have the cliche' "cute kid" saying the occasional line. But Nicky had some dimension and was an integral part of the story. You get to really like him on the same level as the leads.
I can't give the story 5 stars due to the ending. There wasn't one. It's like the power going off on the last few minutes of a movie. Yeah. Everything is basically resolved. But there is that one last bit missing . I think it is because if you follow the storyline it's apparent that no matter how much Gabe and Callie love each other, there is no realistic HEA for them. Think about Queen Elizabeth's husband. Does it sound like a hero, who has always led and is used to being in command would be happy in that role?
I loved Gracie's Chance sister series and the other one about the sisters, but she has gone way downhill on these Devil Riders books. Way too much emphasis on the man hardening and wanting to kiss all the time, to the point that is becomes repetitive and boring and gets in the way of the plot and character studies. too bad. i bought the whole series and was very disappointed and stopped reading the second one after a few chapters.
